MIUCCIA PRADA
How to achieve an absolute cult status on the world's fashion scene? Have a degree in political science, no design experience, study acting, say "I hate fashion..." and have a weakness for Communism. The perfect base? Not at all, but all this was the recipe for Miuccia Prada's success. In 1978 she took over the management of the Italian fashionhouse, which originally was founded by her grandfather in 1913. Her secret: be different. Miuccia Prada experiments with prints and fabrics, combinig colors one would never expect. Her modern ideas of aesthetics- often described as "anti-chic" chic: from neat school-uniform styles to a rumpled-linen look, from baby-doll dresses with harlequin motifs to coats in upholstery fabrics and evening gowns decorated with zippers- Miuccia Prada has an endless source of creativity at her command. And to complete her quote: "I hate fashion... I also love it of course. The way we think of ourselves, the way we compose ourselves every day, for me this is very profound."
